The Race to Remember, will take place on Sunday, July 26, and is in memory of Des Bekker, Spider (Mike Carson) and other fallen riders.
The event will be hosted by the Walkerville Speedway Riders Club in conjunction with the Monarchs Motorcycle Club. It will be a five man team race event between Team Bekker and Team Spider Mike.
Heading up Team Bekker is Bekker’s nephew Byron, one of the most successful South African speedway riders to date, who rode in the UK for the past ten years, captaining teams and breaking British speedway records.
His biggest competition on the day is the captain of Team Spider Mike, the multiple SA champion Neil Petit.
There will also be a welcome return of the popular and talented Mac Magill, teaming with Lyle Kotze and Ahley Brill, to face the skilled DJ Devine, Brandon Devine and Mario VD Merwe.
Sidecars, flat tracks, quads and Pee Wee bikes will also be racing on the day.
