Mondeor Meteors FC wins Cup

MONDEOR Meteors Football Club women team ended the summer football season by winning the Eastern local Football Association Summer League Cup final on Friday March 27, held in Edenvale.

ASI Olympia were worthy contenders in what turned out to be a tough match that went into extra time, with Mondeor Meteors FC coming out victorious. The club is very proud of the team that has done exceptionally well throughout the summer league.

“Well done ladies, you brought the Cup home, and have made us very proud. A special thanks and note of congratulations to Johnny du Toit, our coach,” said fellow team member and Chairperson of Mondeor Meteors FC Ilze Gibbs.

Women and girls football has always been a focal point for Mondeor Meteors FC, with the aim to get more girls playing football and to raise the profile of women football in South Africa. The club has had many successes as a result, and on Friday night it was no different.

Winter league will kick off in the next month and the women are on a well-deserved break for the next three weeks before returning to the field.
