A TEAM of youngsters from the Alberton Football Club had the privilege to compete at the Mundialito soccer tournament, one of the biggest of its kind in the world.
The u.12 premiere team from Alberton FC competed at the Mundialito soccer tournament in Algarve, Portugal from March 28 to April 5. Teams such as Real Madrid and Benfica have the opportunity to play in this competition, as well as 20 young boys from Alberton FC.
It has been running for 20 years and over 5 000 players from u.6 to u.12 from some 50 countries participate in this annual tournament.
The initiative started with the beloved coach Neville Jonas. He has been training with this group of talented players for four years and decided that they were destined for greater things.
The boys have been training hard once a week since August 2014, and had a very capable personal trainer doing fitness and agility with them.
A total tour group of 61 people accompanied the team on their adventure, made possible thanks to the volunteers who have put together elaborate fundraisers, and generous parents who have sponsored the team with a brand new kit.
When they return, team members will be enriched with more skills, memories, experiences and stronger bonds than they could have imagined with their teammates. The club wishes them the best of luck and hopes they will have fun more than anything else.
