Southerners step into the ring

All Southern affair at the Hurricane Box 'n Dine.

IT will be an all Southern affair when the boxing prospects from the area will step into the ring.

African Ring Hurricane Box ‘n Dine will take place on Monday April 13 when the best of the Southern boxers will have a brawl with their opponents.

Southern prospect Paul Kamanga has a lot to fight for when he faces Stone van Aswegen at the tournament.

Kamanga, who moved up a division to junior welterweight, will be up against van Aswegen from Boksburg in an eight-rounder. For both boxers it’s a must-win situation, as Kamanga has been promised to have a go at Ali Funeka’s IBO crown, while Van Aswegen would like to break his unbeaten record and get better opportunities in the ring.

Kamanga is unbeaten in 14 outings and Van Aswegen has a 6/2/1 record. Both boxers however are most promising in this division and the fight can go either way.

“We don’t take the fight lightly and know that Stone (Van Aswegen) and his broter Rupert, are worthy contenders,” said Kamanga’s trainer Anton Gilmore from Box Office.

To headline the fight Warren Joubert from the South will make a welcome comeback against Grant Fourie for the South African junior-welterweight title.

Another Southerner, Flo Simba, will also make his way back to the ring after a lengthy lay back. To top the bill, Johnny Muller, will also show his flair at the much-coveted event.
