Tshwane Open ready to tee off

Alberton golfing star Keith Horne will make his crack at the title when he lines up on Thursday for the last Sunshine Tour event.

The R18.5-million Tshwane Open will wrap up the European Tour’s summer swing in South Africa when it tees off at the Pretoria Country Club from Thursday March 12 to Sunday March15.

Horne just finished with the Africa Open 2015 and held his own, but the well-travelled 43-year-old believes he can improve on that in the Tshwane Open.

Pretoria stars Richard Sterne and George Coetzee will lead a field including former Tshwane Open champions Dawie van der Walt and Ross Fisher, European Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke, former European Ryder Cup players Edoardo Molinari and David Howell, recent two-time European Tour winner and current Sunshine Tour Order of Merit leader Andy Sullivan, former SA Open champions Richie Ramsay and Morten Orum Madsen.

Tickets to the tournament cost R50 a day for adults for Thursday March 12 and Friday March 13.

Tickets for the final two rounds will be R100 per day on Saturday March 14 and Sunday March 15.

There is also a four-day season ticket available at R150 per person. Pensioners and children u.16 gain free access.

Tickets can be booked through TicketPro or purchased at the tournament venue, with the gates set to open at 06:00 every day. A park-and-ride service will also be operating from Brooklyn Mall from 05:30 to 20:30 daily, with the shuttles leaving every half hour, except between 13:00 and 16:00 when they will depart every hour.

Golf fans attending the Tshwane Open will also stand the chance to win two tickets to the new Afrasia Bank Mauritius Open.
