First women contestants at EFC

EFC are ecstatic to announce the opening of the first women’s division.

EFC is renowned for its recent rapid growth, from expanding globally to the opening of the flyweight division. EFC are ecstatic to announce the opening of the first women’s division. The ladies are here to take over.

Women’s MMA has had a massive surge in global popularity in recent years. With this is mind, EFC president Cairo Howarth has opened EFC to professional female athletes, with the first ever historic bout to be on the February 21 card in Carnival City.

Scheduled at flyweight, spectators will see Hungarian ZitaVarju face-off against South African Danella Eliasov. Varju fights out of Dudas gym in Budapest and has an extensive kickboxing history. She is known for some devastatingly dangerous striking skills.

Her opponent Eliasov is one of the most highly experienced female amateur MMA athletes in South Africa and will be making her professional debut in February. Eliasov is a psychiatrist at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital as well as a teacher at WITS University. Known for her brilliant grappling and submission skills, fireworks can be expected when these two enter the Hexagon.

“Finally, the woman are ready to take centre stage,” said EFC matchmaker Graeme Cartmell. “We have been seeing huge growth in the female division around the world and we can expect the very same explosive fights within EFC, The February fight card just turned into a whole other animal!”
