Amajimbos kick off 2015 preparations

SAFA u.17 side to kick off their 2015.

TH|E South African Men’s National u.17 side, Amajimbos reported to camp on Monday December 5 to continue preparations for the upcoming CAF u.17 African Youth Championships to be hosted by Niger between February 14 and March 1.

They take on Zambia on Saturday in a once off match.

Although not all players reported for camp, Amajimbos held their first training session at the SAFA School of Excellence in a hot Johannesburg afternoon on Monday.

Amajimbos will travel to Zambia on January 8 to play a friendly match against the Junior Chipolopolo on Saturday January 10 and travel back to South Africa on Sunday January 11.

The team will then remain in the local camp until they travel to Nigeria on January 14 to play a friendly against the Golden Eaglets on Saturday January 17 and then travel back to South Africa on January 18.

The South Africans will play in group B of the 2015 CAF African Youth Championships where they are pitted against Cote d’Ivoire, Mali and Cameroon.

If they finish among the top four, they will qualify for the FIFA u.17 World Cup which will be staged in Chile from October 17 to November 18.

Group A will consists of hosts Niger, Guinea, Nigeria and Zambia.
