The Sasol league has grown from strength to strength in the past six years, with more women playing football in the country. This has created a pathway for the senior women’s national team coaches to scout for players for Sasol Banyana Banyana.

“We are proud to see the contribution the league has made in the national team; we have seen a rise in the number of players in the Banyana Banyana squad who play in the teams participating in the league. This shows that we have met our objective of using the league as a feeder to the national team. We have seen high levels of competitiveness in the past years at the national champs, and it is with no doubt that that will continue in Port Elizabeth,” said Dumisani Mbokane, Sasol sponsorship specialist.

“It is great to have so many young women playing football. The contribution that Sasol made to the game is astonishing. We look forward to some competitive and exciting football during the tournament in Port Elizabeth,” said Ms Nomsa Mahlangu, SAFA Chairperson of Competitions Committee and Head of Women’s football.
