The race is now in its 30th year and awards prizes for the best male, female and team headwear. Proceeds will go to the United Cerebral Palsy Association of SA (UCPA), currently home to almost 50 children and young adults, whose ages range from three to 40 years.

Pirates also urge participants to please bring books to donate to Marang House, the home that provides care for children in need of extensive medical care.

The race distance is approximately eight kilometres and the entry fee is a donation of R50 or more and R20 for children. Dogs must be on a lead and their entry fee is R20. Pre-entries can be done at Enteronline.co.za.

There are also special, one-of-a-kind giveaways to the first 1 250 finishers, and a floating trophy for the Most Social Team. We have some special prizes for children, and there will also be spot prizes.

Please note that the wearing of headphones/earphones is prohibited, participants with prams are requested to start at the back.
