Danone u.12 SA team leaves for Brazil

The prestigious u.12 tournament takes place in Sao Paulo, Brazil from November 13 to 16.

Danone 2014 u.12 winners, Siphumelele Primary School, have left for Brazil to compete in the 2014 Danone Nations Cup.

The prestigious u.12 tournament will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil from November 13 to 16 when 32 national soccer teams will play against each other.

The South African representative team, Siphumelele Primary School paved their way through to the finals and were the eventual winners to take on the world. The u.12 team left on Wednesday November 12 from Danone Head Quarters, where they had a send-off to Brazil.

Since 2000, Danone has been the proud organiser of the Danone Nations Cup, the world’s largest international soccer tournament for 10- to 12-year-olds. It’s the World Cup for children!

More than 2.5 million children compete with each other and make friends in this tournament. The players come from more than 34 000 schools and 11 000 clubs from around the globe take part.

In South Africa it reaches around 3 000 schools and 45 000 South Africans are touched by the tournament every year.

It is the way in which Danone puts into practice the company’s mission of “bringing health through food to as many people as possible”.

Danone Nations Cup…giving children a good reason to believe in their dreams!

South Africa was winners on two occasions, in 2003 and 2007.
