Kirsty Watts Foundation Golf Day a success

The Kirsty Watts Foundation Golf Day was held at the Parkview Golf Course.

THE Kirsty Watts Foundation Golf Day held at the Parkview Golf Clun on Friday October 24 once again proved to be a great success.

Support throughout the community was given and all involved had a wonderful day. The South African Rugby Legends gave their full support and many of the legends took up the challenge on the day. “As an organisation we have a long-term support of this initiative and we will continue doing so,” said SA Legends Board member, Mac Masina.

“My daughter has decided the best way to support children who have this life-threatening disease is to raise funds in order for them to help themselves,” said Belinda Watts, mother of Kirsty Watts, who had cancer at the tender age of 14 years, and was suffering for a year while treatment was done to overcome the cancer. She wonderfully recovered and many golf days were held to raise funds.

Kirsty believes in ‘kids helping kids’ and felt that since she was fortunate to receive incredible support and medical care, she would like to assist them in this way.

Currently the foundation will utilise the money raised at the Chris Hani Ward 80 to enhance the environment for both the children and medical staff.

MTN is an outstanding sponsor of all the costs for the golf day, and everything else is donated, so that the proceeds can reach the children.

MTN has donated R80 000 to cover all the costs of the day.
