HOëRSKOOL President High School is the champions for 2014! Playing in the Roodepoort Rugby Club series for High Schools, President was victorious in each game.
They started off the series with a good win against Bryanston High School in the first match, scoring all the bonus points they could. President kept on winning in their pool games vs HTS Nic Diedericks, and Kagiso. President took the quarter finals and the semi-finals in their stride, beating Fochville XV in that game.
The final, which took place on Friday night, was cold, harsh and taking on Krugersdorp was an uphill battle. With the wind at their backs, President kept just ahead of KHS and went into halftime with an 8-5 lead.
The second half was tough and defence was crucial. President held out against wave after wave of KHS attacks. The defence paid off and President got out of their half, winning a penalty and the subsequent line-out on KHS’s 22 meter line. President’s forwards started a rolling maul, an unstoppable machine in the game. Winning another penalty and kicking it out on the five meter line earned President a second rolling maul, and this time even pulling it down couldn’t stop President from barging over the KHS defensive line and scoring the second try of the match.
With minutes left in the game, President held out for the final victory, winning the game 13-5.
President was crowned the champions, once more, of the Roodepoort series!
