Robertsham Callies United Old Boys bash
In celebration of being in existence since 1961 the club invites all members, ex-members and players to an Old Boys Reunion.
ROBERTSHAM Callies United was founded in 1961 by the late Meyer ‘Ginger” Jacobson. The primary purpose was to keep the youngsters occupied on the weekends. The little league was formed for boys between the ages of five and 11 and an internal league and cup competition were created. They started this club at Robertsham Primary with two fields and a caravan for a change room.
In 1964 the problem arose for kids aged 12. They had nowhere to play. Robertsham then entered their teams into the Southern Transvaal Leagues for the kids aged 12 to 16. Several players showed interest and the amalgamation with Marist brothers were formed.
The senior teams were known as Marist Robertsham until the late 60s at which the “Marist” was dropped away.
By 1971 bigger, better facilities were needed and Robertsham Soccer club moved to its new home at Southdale. All the junior sides had progressed into the Championship leagues. The senior sides were also progressing, and in the period 1973-1977 they reached the last 16 of the Currie Cup on three occasions. In the 1980s the club dominated the Transvaal football league and cup competition winning the Transvaal league and challenge Cup double four years in succession. In 1982 no fewer than 12 Robertsham players made the Southern Transvaal Currie Cup squad.
In 1986 Southern Callies moved from Chris Park to Southdale and the newly formed club became known as Robertsham Callies United.
In 1989 the club ended third in First Division, with 26 juniors and six seniors receiving Southern Transvaal Colours.
Robertsham Callies United is one of the largest and most respected amateur clubs in South Africa. The club presently runs teams ranging from under sixes through to senior level. They are striving for a better football and social environment.

The Old Boys Bash will be held on Saturday October 4 from 12:00 onwards at the Robertsham Callies Football Club.
