Rotary celebrates 25 years of helping less privileged

The Rotary Club of Three Rivers celebrated 25 years of staging the Brian Korte Race Day event.

THE Rotary Club of Three Rivers celebrated 25 years of staging the Brian Korte Race Day event on Saturday September 6 at Turffontein race course.

The raceday charity event successfully raised R45 000 for needy causes ranging from shelter homes, feeding schemes, wheelchair and walking rings donation; animals under distress through the SPCA, and maize meal donations to about 30 organisations in the Sedibeng District region at any given time.

Rotary President Beth Thomas commented on the charity event: “We are grateful that three sponsoring companies, Climate Vaal, OWA Ceiling Systems and GMC Air Conditioners, have been supportive of this event from inception, including Turffontein management, who have equally been super-supportive of our cause.

”The Rotary Club of Three Rivers was founded in 1984, and is one of five Rotary Clubs within the Sedibeng District Municipality. The club’s programmes range from respect for the rights of others and socio-economic upliftment projects relating to health and hunger, water and sanitation and literacy and education in and around Sharpeville, Sebokeng, Evaton, Orange Farms and Vereeniging.
