Coca-Cola Craven Weeks start in Durban

The annual Coca-Cola Rugby Youth Weeks festivals kick off a month of the best in schoolboy rugby.

The annual Coca-Cola Rugby Youth Weeks festivals kick off a month of the best in schoolboy rugby, with the first tournament, the u.13 Coca-Cola Craven Week, taking place at Glenwood High School in Durban from Monday, June 30 to Friday July 4.

The Coca-Cola® Rugby Youth Weeks take place annually and comprises four age-categorised rugby tournaments, namely Under13 Coca-Cola Craven Week, Under16 Coca-Cola® Grant Khomo Week, Under18 Coca-Cola® Academy Week and Under18 Coca-Cola® Craven Week, in which schoolboys representing their respective regions, compete against one another.

Now in its 51st year, the Coca-Cola Craven Week has become synonymous as the platform for showcasing the best in South African, up and coming youth rugby talent, and is the hunting ground for both national and provincial scouts.

Fetsi Mbele, Coca-Cola South Africa Marketing Assets Manager, comments, “Coca-Cola South Africa is proud to once again be partnering with SARU on the Coca-Cola® Rugby Youth Weeks. This will be the 29th year of our sponsorship and we have had the privilege of witnessing first-hand the success of the Coca-Cola® Youth Weeks, and the incredible foundation it has created for schoolboy rugby in South Africa. The Coca-Cola Craven Weeks also signifies the importance of getting the youth active and living an active healthy lifestyle through sport participation.”

For many Springboks, the Coca-Cola® Rugby Youth Weeks have been the springboard for their future careers in professional rugby, and we are very excited to see what new talent this year’s tournaments unveil.”

The schedule for the Coca-Cola® Rugby Youth Weeks rugby tournaments is as follows:

U.13 Coca-Cola Craven Week: Monday, June 30 – Friday, July 4, at Glenwood High School, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

U.16 Coca-Cola Grant Khomo Week: Monday, July 7 – Thursday, July 10, at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), Pretoria, Gauteng.

U.18 Coca-Cola Academy Week: Monday, July 7 – Thursday, July 10, HTS Drostdy, Worcester, Western Cape.

U.18 Coca-Cola Craven Week: Monday, July 14 – Friday, July 19, at HTS Middelburg, Middelburg, Mpumalanga.
