Sundance kid is TAB’s champion punter

Rofail’s closing balance of just over R32 000 took him up the leader board entitling him to the first prize in the pool of R70 400.

Rofail’s luck changed when he caught two quartets later in the day which put him in front with a clear lead. Players in the tournament played off a R6000 starting balance where they had to play a minimum of R400 per race, R1000 on exotics and the remaining R1400 was used at their own discretion.

Rofail who plays under the name the Sundance Kid said: “It feels great to know that I am South Africa’s champion punter.”

The next TOC race meeting is expected to take place end of July. Alfie Little, Phumelela’s operations manager said: “We have exciting ideas for the last tournament of the season which will create much interest.”
