Bowlers off to champs
Support the Herbert Park bowlers who will be playing in different tournaments.
SIXTEEN registered bowlers, consisting of one ladies’ team and three mens’ teams from Herbert Park Bowling Club, are converging on the Potchefstroom Bowling Club in October this year to participate in their Annual 31st Mielieland Bowls Tournament.
Joybell Rubens, Team manager, said, “Most people cannot sponsor themselves and afford to go the Annual Bowls South Africa Nationals. The men’s tournament being held in Cape Town this year, which is held over nine days, and Inter-Districts, of which there are several Levels of Inter-District Tournaments, which is held over four days, nor are the relevant Bowls Clubs able to sponsor teams representing their club. To raise funds for tournaments of this magnitude, it would take quite an effort to raise enough funds for this purpose. We therefore appeal to all concerned to support us and have some fun.”
On the Herbert Park Bowls Club front, members of other clubs or the public, whether you know how to play bowls or not, are still encouraged to join Herbert Parks bowlers, on their social days held on Wednesdays and Sundays every week.
Furthermore, the support at their Friday bar lunches would be most appreciated. Herbert Park do not only boast a bowls section, but also have the M.O.T.H. (KBB Shellhole), The Scottish Society, The South Rand Caravaners, The Onder Ons, and a Bikers Club, who are also sections of the club.
