SOUTH African Legends Association (SARLA) has secured a new sponsor for 2014.
SARLA was proud to announce on Wednesday March 12 that they will be sponsored by Cell C. This will assist them in running their organisation nationally, specifically with their ground-breaking development programme Vuka Rugby.
“We are proud to be associated with one of South Africa’s fastest growing brands, who has aligned itself to rugby at all levels in the country,” said SARLA President Gavin Varejes.
Cell C is involved in various rugby ventures such as the Community Cup and the Sharks, which the company sponsors. Sponsoring SARLA will also be an ongoing sponsorship, which will enable the association to assist in rugby development.
“With Cell C’s support and that of our valued sponsors, we are able to continue the incredible work that has made SARLA the unique organisation it is,” said Varejes. “ For over 12 years we have been harnessing the incredible skills and talents of our former rugby greats to help grow and develop the game in South Africa, through rugby matches against Legends from other countries, rugby clinics and appearances at events.”
SARLA’s Vuka Rugby programme has for the past six years helped revive rugby in the Cape Flats in Western Cape. This programme will now roll out in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
“Cell C has been actively involved in various sporting codes as sponsor over the past two years, and believes this project is worthy of our support. We believe in changing lives and this gives us yet another opportunity to do just that,” said Cell C Acting CEO Jose Dos Santos.
