Husqvarna SA new sponsor

Husqvarna South Africa signed a new sponsor for 2014. Cargo-Tac Heavy Haulage, who has supported local hero Altus de Wet from the start of the 2013 season, will be the new title sponsor from 2014.

JOHANNESBURG – “As an international freight company specialising in abnormal transport into Africa, we bought a brand-new racing transport van for the team, and will expand our sponsorship for 2014 with financial support as well,” said Cargo-Tac MD Kevin Wessels.

“We attended the Roof of Africa race this year to see Husqvarna Racing’s Altus de Wet and world number one extreme rider, Graham Jarvis, in action. It was a very good event and truly ranks as one of the world’s toughest races. The wet conditions made it the best we’ve had in a very long time,” said Wessels.

On the Husqvarna front General Manager at CMH Marine and Leisure, Fred Fensham expressed his excitement about the sponsorship.

“We are ecstatic about the partnership with Cargo-Tac as our title sponsor. We could not have wished for a better, more involved and enthusiastic team to work with.”

Cargo-Tac was established with the aim of providing reliable, effective solutions to the transport and freight industry.

“We pride ourselves on our high levels of commitment to our customers. Our collective experience of over 70 years in the industry enables us to offer solutions that are tailor-made to clients’ requirements,” said Wessels.

Driving transport solutions into Africa – mainly up to Zambia – is in a certain way similar to enduro racing, said Wessels. “You know where you need to go, but you experience all kinds of unique challenges along the way,” he said.

As far as Husqvarna is concerned, Cargo-Tac prides itself on the same kind of reliability.

“We look at Husqvarna and the commitment of riders like Altus, the other riders and team, and in many ways see a reflection of ourselves. This is not something that is achieved over the short term. It takes years of dedication to make a success of it. Success in trucking and racing doesn’t happen overnight.”

Wessels knows what he is talking about when it comes to dirt bike racing.

“Many years ago I raced in every event I could find. Nowadays I race from time to time when we can afford a break from work, but I try to go out every weekend.”

The 2014 Husqvarna team consists of a national enduro team, national off-road team and national motocross team.
