My dear mother was released from a hospital facility some time back and we were told by them to enrol her in a hospice for further duration, as there was nothing more that could be done for her since she was severely ill and could no longer be treated in the hospital.
Stepping Stone Hospice and Care Centre took my mom in and 11 days later we collected her as she had recovered enough for home treatment and care. The treatment and care given to mom was phenomenal and the staff were always so friendly.
Eventually, at age 86, Mom, Aletta (Lettie) Botha, suffering from severe osteoarthritis, emphysema and stomach cancer was called home.
We have been assisted by Stepping Stone and if we wished we could have had mom returned to them, but due to the current pandemic we decided to keep her with us in order for her grandchildren and close family to say their final goodbyes. Mom had passed away in the early hours of June 12 and the final task was left in the competent hands of Avbob in Alberton.
Stepping Stone, Amcare home visits, assistance, care and calls were much appreciated and made our lives so much easier with caring and nursing mom.
I have to mention Truus Odendaal, sisters Margie and Christa, their colleagues and nurse’s aides in order to thank each and every one for their dedication, love and assistance.
