Against Rosettenville protests

There are other ways of getting rid of criminals and the police should be blamed the most.

I would like to express my absolute disgust at the vigilante actions by members of the public against the alleged drug dealers and pimps because of the way this was enacted.

I have a lot of understanding for the anger of the people. I have experienced, many times, the lack of enthusiasm of the police in dealing with crime – also the lack of understanding of the processes and the lack of will to assist the public in resolving crime issues.

But the actions taken by the public on Sunday, February 5, were absolutely criminal. With that, ordinary citizens now become criminals and will detract from the real crime issues like drug dealing and prostitution and pimping.

I do hope that we will have some special meetings between the mayor of Johannesburg, Moffat View Police authorities, Minister of Police, councillors and other people from the affected wards to discuss proper plans to deal with these problems.

I do not want to live among people who claim to want to eliminate crime by doing and condoning crime. In essence, I put full responsibility for the violence expressed by the public due to the lethargy of the SAPS in general.

I have heard many people state that the violence happened in full view of police.

I will be posting the photos of the burnt-down house on Facebook.
