Thank you for the kindness and compassion

They really care and strive to do their job with pride and compassion.

My husband and I would like to give a huge thank you and pay tribute to the wonderful service we received recently from the SPCA in Booysens.

I took my husband’s Jack Russell puppy to the SPCA on Thursday, June 25. She was 16 years old, blind, deaf and really ill. The vet examined her and told me that she feels I should consider having her put down.

As I had already prepared myself that this would be the outcome of the examination I was sort of prepared already. However, the head nurse came in examined our puppy again and went into detail to explain to me what he was going to do in order to put her down. After explaining the procedure to me, he asked me if I needed time to say goodbye, I told him no he must go ahead. He then wrapped her carefully in the towel I had brought with, proceeded to give her the injection, laid her down with such care and compassion.

Once he had given the injection, he put the towel over her completely and laid a rose on top of her body. He then carefully placed her in a thick plastic bag and laid her carefully in a box. He and his assistant then proceeded to put five or six roses on top of her body and then closed the box.

I was so struck by this kindness and compassion and I salute these men. I must add that I have been going to this SPCA facility for a number of years and the treatment given to my animals has always been absolutely top class and so reasonably priced. They really care and strive to do their job with pride and at the same time with compassion.

Thank you everybody at Booysens SPC.
