It is common knowledge, with due respect to freedom of expression, that Ward 57 is deteriorating in terms of service delivery

Ward 57 currently has a DA Cllr Faeeza Chame, who was elected on the July 2, 2014 after the resignation of the former DA member and Cllr Beverley Turk. There has been a number of incidents and events that have lead our community to lose confidence in our current councillor. We question whether the councillor together with the DA fully understand the roles and responsibilities of a councillor.

The councillor speaks of not being aware of the Ward Community Development Forum (WCDF), that was led by and not restricted to the ANC Branch, but included almost all political and sector-based organisation to ensure that development benefits the local community irrespective of their political affiliation. Under no circumstances can the ANC be apologetic for forming a strong community voice that she forms part of, the very same forum she attended the launch of. It is the councillor’s job to acquaint herself with previous councillors and any previous interim structures.

The WCDF managed to get the City of Johannesburg to intervene with the refurbishing (painting, waterproofing, roofing, electrical works, plumbing, etc) of a number of flats in the South Hills area.

Our request to the councillor is for her to assist in liaising with the community, and tell us what she has done in her nine months of office, and for her to present to the community her plan for Ward 57, and not resort to alienating and insulting individuals because they are from the opposing party and because they have a genuine concern for their community.

Please lead us, Cllr Faeeza Chame, you were not appointed, but you have been elected by the masses. You are accountable to the community, the community has given you its mandate, now do your part or jump ship!
