I wish to express my dissatisfaction regarding the illegal patch of road and illegal dumping taking place at Xavier Reef Extension 20.

There is an illegal patch of road coming from Nasrec Road into Akker Street in Xavier Reef Extension 20. The illegal road has turned into some ‘Kyalami race track’, especially in peak hours (morning and afternoon).

This has caused so much discomfort to residents of the area. Taxis and motorists coming from the other side of Nasrec Road are using this illegal patch of road as a throughway to town.

There is also a problem of illegal dumping and unkempt grass. I have noticed with great concern that when the grass is being cut, only the Central Street from old Ormonde is taken care of and not Xavier Reef.

We have observed private bakkies coming to dump rubble in the open space between Nasrec Road and Akker Street, and also along the Central Street open veld.

I would like to appeal to our honourable councillor to take immediate action by closing the illegal patch of road, and attend to the illegal dumping. Though some residents would love to keep the illegal patch of road open, it has now become a nuisance, and criminals have easy access to our properties.

This illegal road and dumping is an eyesore; it is also unsightly and devalues our properties.

I would also like to appeal to the residents of Xavier Reef to take pride in their area and dispose of their rubble appropriately.

We would really appreciate your feedback.

NM Myeza, resident of Xavier Reef Estate
