Cllr Jane on the misplaced traffic light

This is not the end of the robot saga at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Middle Lane

Readers may recall a picture similar to the one printed actually appeared in a December issue last year.

‘The Resident in the South’ is correct about the turning lane being constructed around the original robot. As many passers-by will know, the situation has changed again. The robot has been moved by JRA and placed on the pavement.

This is not the end of the robot saga at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Middle Lane. There will be another change within the next few weeks (hopefully). The slipway has caused the total width of the road to exceed the limit that allows for robot placement on pavements. What is now required is a cranked pole with a robot head above the ‘slow’ lane, as has happened for example at the Prairie/Verona intersection.

In addition, legislation also requires that an engineer design the sequencing of the traffic lights, not only at the intersection in question, but also at adjacent intersections. All these designs and plans should be deliverable soon, so watch the intersection for the final installation.
