Crime is not the norm in Avelda Park

It is time we work together and stop blaming and pointing fingers.

I disagree with the letter in the previous issue of the Southern COURIER, page six (“Crime is now the norm at Avelda Park”).

My house was broken into in February this year, but I received excellent service from the SAPS. They were on the scene in 10 minutes and the CPF patrolled for two months, checking my yard out at 01:00 in the morning.

I think that article was written out of anger and frustration.

When my home was broken into, we were so scared, we put our property on sale. But after the second attempt in March, a police officer encouraged me not to sell our home, because crime is everywhere. He advised us to just “up” the security.

Therefore, that is what I will do as soon as I get employment. Believe me, the police are doing an excellent job! God bless you guys.

The CPF members are people like us, offering their time to help us prevent crime in our areas. At the same time they have jobs to go to every day. It is time we work together and stop blaming and pointing fingers.

We will continue praying for Mondeor Police as they are really giving us excellent service!
