There have been several leaks in Kibler Park over the long weekend, causing major wastage of clean useable water due to the delay by Johannesburg Water Department in restoring and repairing the burst pipe lines on time.
The water pipes are old and should have been replaced several years ago, and with this extreme cold weather we are experiencing this winter it created a recipe for absolute disaster.
Pipes will be popping everywhere, and soon the depots will have no stock and the delay in repairing this already fragile situation will just escalate.
Budget cuts and the lack of resources will add to the problem, and the maintenance of the infrastructure is already a matter of big controversy.
