This a follow-up on my previous lamentations published on February 11. At the time of publication the police officials had not responded and even one week after publication they had not responded to my letter.

This seems to indicate that they really are not at all concerned what the community, whom they are supposed to serve, think about their lack of integrity. Because that is what it is, a lack of integrity if you are slack about giving the service for which you are employed and being paid for.

I am also rather disappointed in the lack of response by the public. Only two people sent an email and one other contacted me on Facebook. But the general feeling of the respondents, as well as other people I have spoken to over a considerable period of time, is that they no longer take the trouble to report, as they find the police do not show real interest and there is never any follow-up action taken by them.

It is also quite difficult for some officers to properly give an accurate written report when opening a case. There certainly needs to be a revision in the way reports are written as well as a better education for some officers. Some officers often do not know the correct procedures and the correct departments to contact.

All these factors are most frustrating.

In order to change the situation I do need a lot of support from the public. It is you who are the losers in this lack of service. So I encourage you to send your emails to me about the frustrations you have experienced.

It is important to quote the case number and tell me about the follow-up service you have received.

If no case was opened, please state the series of events and the response you have had from the police. Remember we want to create a crime-free area and that is only possible if we all make a stand.
