My heart-felt gratitude goes out to Northcliff Rotary Club and Miriam Jacobs.

A bedridden Mr Garth was house-bound due to three strokes. His wife is the only one who takes care of him.

I was disturbed by the fact that he was denied the opportunity to be mobile and enjoy the fresh air outside.

My first thought was to get him out of that bed. I asked Mrs Garth if I could source a wheelchair. She agreed and she was delighted. I send out a few requests the same day.

Mr Garth had his wheelchair the Thursday of the same week.

Mrs Garth was overwhelmed when I delivered the wheelchair. She said she prepared herself for a three-month wait.

I am happy for the people out there who still prioritise human values.
