The Bag Lady

With warmer days and evenings staying lighter for longer, getting together with family and friends over weekends is relaxing and fun.

I had the privilege of attending two women’s events over the past two weeks and I can quite honestly say, thank goodness I’m a woman.

We are amazing and can do anything we set our minds to. All too often as women, we get worn down with domestic issues, including taking care of our husbands and children, apart from the day to day running of our homes. Oh yes, and we still work full-time, play chauffeur and tackle other daily tasks. There will be days you can’t cope but always remember tomorrow is another day and you can start afresh.

As women, we need to watch out for each other, not knock each other down. So be a friend and if you see another woman looking upset or alone, take a minute or two out of your hectic day and ask her if she’s okay? That alone could change her day around. Be a friend.

The Green in Glenvista

With warmer days and evenings staying lighter for longer, getting together with family and friends over weekends is relaxing and fun.

If you enjoy a good vibe, great views and yummy food, oh, not to mention the best of craft beers, craft gins, wines and cocktails, as well as divine flavoured coffees, then look no further than The Green. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, it’s the perfect place for drinks, lunch or dinner. They serve delicious pub grub from pizzas to burgers, wraps to ribs, the tastiest chicken wings, and all with a slight twist.

Every second week Quiz Nights are held. Get a few friends together and head on down for a great evening. There are also live bands which will certainly get your feet tapping.

Functions can be accommodated, including 21st birthdays, engagements and baby showers with seating for up to 200 guests. With Christmas only a matter of a few months away, don’t miss out, book your office party there now.

You’ll find The Green, quite literally down a little garden path, to the left of Glenvista Country Club, Vorster Ave, Glenvista. The secure parking area is the same as for the country club patrons.

From my personal point of view, my family and friends have enjoyed some of our best times there. The staff, although young (what’s wrong with young?) are really obliging and go out of their way to make your visit pleasurable from start to finish. Owner Mark (email: mark@thegreen.co.za) and manager Robyn (email: robyn@thegreen.co.za) can also be reached by calling 067 087 3615. They are open on Tuesdays 11am to 9pm and every other day (apart from Monday when they are closed) 10am till close.

So what are you waiting for, the drinks are cold, the view is stunning and the food is great.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop.
