The Bag Lady

Unbelievably the first month of 2018 is nearly over and how many of you are saying you can't believe how fast it went! Take time to smell the roses, life isn't a race.

So last week it was back to school and for many youngsters it was with great excitement they arrived on their first day, however, for some it was upsetting as they said goodbye to their parents. It’s so sad to see their little faces crumple up and tears flow but I’m guessing after a week or two, they’ll be just as happy as the rest of their friends who loved school from the word go.

If your child is one who cries when you leave them, take note, you think they’ll sob the whole day without you, but any bets by the first break they are running around happily playing. I often think as a parent the goodbyes are more upsetting for us and we worry the whole day at work, only to fetch your child and see them smiling again.

Isn’t it always the same though with all our firsts? First playdate, first sleepover, first day at primary school, first day at high school, first date, first day at a new job, and so the list goes on. For all of you who are experiencing firsts, in whichever situation, relax and remember most people feel exactly the same as you!

Getting fit

How many of you are trying to get fit and in shape after all those delicious festive treats? I regularly walk early mornings (no not alone, too dangerous) and at the beginning of each year I see many new faces out there. Apart from the way they throw themselves into their new routine, I recognise their new takkies and walking/ running attire.

This year I donned my old trainers and walking gear and my friend and I hit the suburbs with renewed vigour! It definitely gives you a great feeling to get out in the fresh air first thing and sets you up for the day.

Some of you will have received a watch-like bracelet as a Christmas gift, which counts your steps, heartbeat, sleep rhythms and whatever else, so remember, each step you take is a step in the right direction. Go for it!

For the love of …

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and the shops are already filling up with everything red, sweet, scented and delicious.

I’m still a romantic at heart and love all the ‘loving’ at this time of the month but one does tend to get fed up with the same gift ideas and ways to celebrate. Let’s be honest though, the good old-fashioned gifts such as red roses, perfume, scented candles and dinner at your favourite restaurant will most likely still be at the top of the lists. Next week I’ll be out and about looking for what’s new and exciting for your lover! Hoping I’ll manage to have a few ideas to share with you.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop (nearly pay day)!
