The Bag Lady

I’ve decided this spring season to downsize my wardrobe. Read and see what I'm going to do. Maybe you can also give it a try.

I can feel it and I can smell it. What’s the answer? Spring of course! Only a matter of a week or so and it will officially be the first day of spring. Last year in the last week of August we had temperatures in the late 20’s and even now we are having some very warm days. I for one can’t wait, just to be able to get dressed in dresses and sandals again and not to be weighed down with layers of bulky clothing. One thing for sure, we are all going to be looking slimmer. Now that’s a bonus.

About to downsize

I’ve decided this spring season to downsize my wardrobe. I’m going to be ruthless with the clothing I already have and sort it out into three piles. One – clothing I still like, which still fits me and which I’ll still wear. Two – I don’t like it anymore and didn’t even wear it once last summer, and three – it’s really looking tired and needs to be thrown out. I’m going to do the same with my shoes as well. Pile two, I’ll give the clothing and shoes to a charity organisation and pile three, throw it all out. I’ve a feeling I’ll be going shopping soon for new clothes but I am going to shop savvy and buy things I can mix and match, therefore not spending too much money.

Come to think of it, if I do this with all my clothing, I’m going to do the same with linen and towels and start off spring with a super tidy home, less mess, less stress.

Rose tips for August

You can plant new roses every month. During this month, water once a week and prune rose bushes, fertilise and use mulch.

Morning fete

Often referred to as the little stone church across the road from the park, St Mary’s Anglican Church, on the corner of Albert and Zinna streets, has been a landmark in Rosettenville for 104 years and has recently been awarded Heritage status. There are still many people residing in the South of Johannesburg who were either baptised, confirmed, married or have had a relative or friend who was buried at this beautiful little church. As with everything else, the cost of maintaining the church has escalated over the years and to raise funds to assist with costs, St Mary’s will be holding a morning market/fete on Saturday, September 3. There will be lots of interesting goodies to buy and plenty of tasty things to eat. Bring your friends and come along to enjoy a pleasant morning at St Marys.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop.
