Eight weeks and counting! Glenvista Shopping Centre already has its Christmas tree up and more and more Christmas décor is flooding into stores. Yes, I love it. There’s something magical about the upcoming weeks before Christmas and even though my children are no longer at home, I still go all out with a tree and a few Christmas decorations. Woolworths has its Christmas stock as well as @Home and MRPHome (Mr Price Home).
Last year I hung beautifully decorated Christmas stockings on the bedroom door handles and lit a fragranced candle in the bathroom every evening in the week up to Christmas and of course during the festive period. Yankee Candles have festive fragrances, Angel’s Wings, Icicles and Sparkling Cinnamon. Visit: The Enchanted Forest, Comaro Crossing, Oakdene, JJ Cale, Mall of the South, Aspen Hills or Grandiflora, City deep. They all sell a wide selection of Yankee Candles and even though they are a little pricey, they are so worth it as the fragrance lingers until the candle is completely burnt out.
Christmas shopping begins
This year again I’ll be having a look for Christmas gifts, keeping in mind it’s been a hard year financially for many. Gifts under R50 are quite difficult to find but there’s still many to be found for all the family for between R100 to R200.
Kids Unleashed
Situated in Alberton North (Shop 3, 27 Louis Trichardt Street) Kids Unleashed is a dream come true for keeping children entertained (0 to 10 years) and also as a party venue. Managed by Tash van Vuuren, Kids Unleashed offers play areas for different ages of children and its new baby section with soft play areas and toys will assist in stimulating and keeping baby happy.
As well as a play area and party venue, the party shop on the premises can provide everything you’ll need to make a children’s party great fun. There’s also a coffee shop which sells light snacks and refreshments, so while your children are supervised in the safe play areas, you can catch up with friends.

Bouquet of the Week
Neville Peters give a bouquet to Southern Plumbing. “On Tuesday October 13 I experienced a water leak in my ceiling. At 15:30 I phoned Southern Plumbing and within 30 minutes they arrived and assessed a burst geyser. Within 48 hours the geyser was replaced and functional. Thanks to Rina Fegen, Devon Swanepoel and Edward Muchakata for their wonderful service offered and to Southern Plumbing for being such a professional company.
