The Bag Lady

I don’t have a domestic worker, as a perfectionist I prefer to do everything myself but after our holiday I ended up with a mountain of ironing and decided I needed some assistance.

My daughter suggested I have her domestic for a day who would not only do the ironing but other chores I’m not keen on.

Excited at the prospect I was up early preparing everything for my helper. Not being au fait with what a domestic requires to do her work it took me about an hour to sort out the cleaning essentials, haul out the ironing board and iron, set out her breakfast and lunch and make sure everything was spic and span for her.

I was to pick her up at 07:00 at a nearby filling station but at 06:20 my phone rang and it was her son, saying she wasn’t well and wouldn’t be able to make it! To be honest I wasn’t sure if I was angry or glad. Oh well, my husband offered to do the ironing but I think this will be the last time and I did leave a silver coffee pot in the kitchen just in case he had a spare minute! Needless to say, he didn’t!
