The Bag Lady

What's The Bag Lady been up to this past week? Read below and find out.

It’s happened at last! I was wondering when winter would officially arrive and I enjoyed the last of the summer weather with glee.  So much so I’ve still to get my winter clothing out and ready to wear.

Winter has got some good points though and soups, stews and warming meals and desserts play their part. Look out for soup packs, readily chopped vegetables to cook first with a little butter before adding stock (beef or chicken), seasoning, and for some soups, such as butternut and cauliflower, fresh cream. Soup can be a meal on its own if served with crusty bread or warm cheese rolls, and is a good vegetarian option for once a week.

Sweet dreams

I can’t bear climbing into a cold bed and if I’m feeling sleepy and relaxed, I’m immediately wide awake again as soon as my body touches the cold sheet and duvet cover. There is away round this, buy winter sheets and duvet covers, with fabric made from 100% cotton which has been brushed to give added warmth and softness. It really does help and you’ll find most of the big stores and bedding shops will sell winter sheets and covers.

Electric blanket versus hot water bottle although for a start you need electricity for both, so load shedding could leave you feeling chilly! You could heat water on a gas stove for your hot water bottle, so maybe that’s the best choice but for me you can’t beat an electric blanket. I checked out prices at Boardmans, Woolworths and Game, with Game coming out tops. I bought a queen size luxury electric blanket (sheepskin feel) made by Logik for R503 and it comes with a 12 month warranty. Just to be on the safe side I think I’ll get a gas stove anyway and then if all else fails I can still keep my feet warm.

Clicks Oh So Heavenly range includes an Overnight Success Regenerating Hand Serum and a Soothing Pillow Mist to help clam the mind and inspire deep and restful sleep.

SOFTENING: Try this hand serum.
SOFTENING: Try this hand serum.

I’ve used both and the serum does soften my hands.  I’m not too sure if the pillow mist assists sleep but it certainly has a nice fragrance.

Until next week, keep warm, stay safe and shop till you drop.
