Life’s regrets

"Freedom is not the right to live as you please, but the right to find how we ought to live in order to fulfill our potential." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Whenever you share your great dreams and aspirations with people, they are most likely to say in a subtle way “You are out of your mind, you will get hurt as your dream won’t materialise.”

They will tell you that it has never been done before, you will fail, it will be too hard, no one will be interested in your book, you won’t have enough and interesting content, you won’t have money to publish your book; no one will help you, and so on and so forth. People said the above comments to me when:

  1. I quit my job to start my own business – the best decision ever;
  2. When I became the President of a Toastmasters Club – an amazing opportunity;
  3. As I have written a book about re-igniting the spark within you with a knowledge that ‘You Are Born to Win!’

You see, one thing I have learnt is that there is nothing as pricey as regret – a regret of time wasted, energy wasted, potential wasted, and missed opportunities and relationships.

All the action is in the here and now and once missed, it is gone forever. I have therefore learnt to take my chances and pursue my dreams, no matter the cost as it will never, ever come close to a cost of regretting what could, should, would have been done. You only regret the past and what was done, never the present or future, that’s how life is.

So, listen to that inner voice (deep within), pursue your dreams, fail forward and do it, scary as this is, it is the only way that you won’t be haunted by regrets.
