The Bag Lady

I’m at last technically with it now I have my new phone and I’m also on Whats App!

For nearly two years I’ve been putting off having a more advanced cellphone and was very happy with my little Nokia, which I loved. It was so easy to use and unbreakable!

After much nagging from my family and work colleagues to ‘get up to date’, I went with my very patient daughter, to MTN The Glen (Cosmonet), to acquire my new phone. I was dreading it as I’m not keen on change and felt quite sad to use my faithful old phone for the last time.

I needn’t have had any worries owing to Theo Motaung, the salesperson at Cosmonet, who is a star! Theo you were brilliant and answered all my ‘silly’ questions with absolute politeness and went more than the extra mile to make me feel comfortable with my choice of phone. Thank you. You are an asset to your store and MTN.

I’m now the proud owner of a new phone which can do almost everything! I think I’m driving everyone nuts with my Whats App’ing. Now I just have to master tweeting and I’m well on my way.

New product

I’ve been hearing lots about Tim Noakes’s book, Real Meal Revolution and quite fancy giving the diet a try.

While I was in Woolworths last week I spotted a jar of Crede Organic Coconut Oil at R106.95 for a 500ml jar.

Organic Coconut Oil, or organic odourless coconut oil, is made from dried coconut and is extracted without the use of harsh chemical solvents. It has a wide variety of applications, ranging from cooking and baking to its use as a nutritional and health supplement. With essential antimicrobials retained, Organic Coconut Oil is a health product that is tasteless and odourless. It is a healthier alternative to hydrogenated soybean and other unsaturated oils used in the processed food industry and for cooking purposes. It’s a certified organic product, vegan and is also Proudly South African.

Organic Coconut Oil has the following suggested benefits:

Healthy, natural source of energy

Not stored as readily in the body as fat compared to other oils

Heart healthy

Cholesterol neutral

Suitable for diabetics

Recommended for use in weight-loss diets

Improves metabolic rate and healthy spread alternative to butter/margarine
Usage Instructions
Ideal for use in baking, frying, desserts, smoothies and shakes. A natural spread for use in place of margarine or butter. Does not require refrigeration. To melt oil, place jar in warm water. Store in a cool, dry place. Use within one year of opening.

Healthy skin you want

I’ve recently suffered from slight patches of eczema on my face and suddenly seem to have developed allergies to many make-up products. I’m using Almay presently, which does seem to be working quite well, but I still find their moisturisers cause slight eczema. What’s definitely working best are Cetaphil skincare products. Their range consists of cleansers and moisturisers, and I’m very happy with them. The product is also recommended by dermatologists.

For more than 60 years, the manufacturers have formulated Cetaphil products for eczema and very dry skin with solutions for adults and children as young as three months. Many Cetaphil products are strong enough to clean thoroughly, yet gentle enough not to further irritate sensitive skin.

You can purchase Cetaphil from DisChem, Clicks and independent pharmacies.

Focus on Local

Car Wash @ 2nd Avenue, 48 Second Avenue, Alberton North has new owners, Pieter and Ryno Jansen van Rensburg. I had a phone call from a reader who said she was thrilled with the service she got here, so I popped along to take a look. The prices are good, and according to Theresa, Pieter and Ryno go the extra mile. If you have your car washed nine times your 10th wash is for free.

Bouquet of the Week

Yvonne Little gives a bouquet to Athi Mbovu who works at Clicks The Glen at the cellphone counter. “I went to Vodacom to purchase a cellphone but they didn’t have the one I wanted. They advised me to go to Game, but the service wasn’t very good there so I went to Clicks, where I was assisted in the most professional manner. I returned the next day because I was not fully geared up on the new phone and again he helped me. He said if I’m stuck with anything again I’m welcome to come back and he’ll assist me. Thank you Athi.”

Bargains galore

There are sales everywhere, and I’ve even seen new summer clothing lines in some stores. Take advantage of the sales and buy your gifts for Christmas and birthdays. You can save a fortune!

That’s it for this week. Take care and – shop till you drop.
