The Bag Lady: Enjoying the sunny winter

This week, I appreciated the wonders of sunny days, even in Winter.

While I was driving to work one day last week I pondered upon the fact of how lucky we are to have almost year round sunshine, even though it’s been a little chilly the past week.

I’m enjoying wearing my clothing for winter but honestly, I’m not going to purchase any more, because summer will be here before we know it! Or will it?

New products

Sorry to non-Woolworths shoppers, but they ALWAYS have new products and other shops don’t.

Fancy a delicious dessert? Very Berry Layered Pavlova, serves eight, looks divine and costs R89.95. A little pricey, but it’s imported from M&S in the UK. Also a new M&S line for children, Colin the Caterpillar, 10 mini thick-shake lollies. Vanilla, strawberry and chocolate flavoured milk for, R49.95.

Or for the cold weather, bulk sticky toffee pudding, 875g, cost R74.95.

Focus on Local

Are you a mountain bike lover who enjoys riding, uphill too? Yunus has invented a motor for your bike which will definitely give you the extra speed for hitting those inclines. The mountain bike, plus motor, costs between R4 500 and R6 500.

If you have your own mountain bike, Yunus can fit it with the motor for R3 500. If you would prefer to buy the complete kit and fit it yourself, it will cost R3 000.

“Depending on the rider’s weight the bike will obviously reach different speeds but it can get to between 40 to 50kms uphill,” said Yunus.

This sounds like the perfect mountain bike for me, and I can see me flying up Comaro Street with the wind in my sails and not out of breath at all! If you’d like to check this out, phone Yunus 082 342 1687.

When you see it, buy it

Last week I went off to The Glen Shopping Centre wanting to buy a pair of trousers or jeans and a jersey. I’ve so many black clothes I thought navy and pale blue would make a lovely change.

I’d seen a gorgeous pale blue jersey at Queenspark the previous week, and at a great price of only R220. I always have to think before I buy and guess what? When I went back they’d all been sold, every other colour was available but because I’d set my heart on pale blue, that’s what I wanted.

I managed to buy a gorgeous pair of jeans in dark blue, but could I find that darned jersey? I went to every shop but there wasn’t one in sight. Eventually, after I lost heart, I chose a midnight blue, very nice but not what I wanted. I just know every time I wear it I’d wish I’d bought the one I wanted when I first saw it. A lesson learnt.

Hope all the dads enjoyed Father’s Day and were spoilt.

That’s it for this week. Enjoy the sunny days and …..shop till you drop!
