The Bag Lady

What's The Bag Lady been up to this week? Read about Kids Emporium and what beautiful goods the baby boutique stocks.

I often receive complaints from shoppers about bad service in the shops but last week I received an e-mail from a shop assistant.

Other side of the coin

I would like to just bring something to your attention. I read the Alberton Record every week.

What really annoys me is when people send letters about shop assistants being rude and unhelpful and yes, you do get a lot of them that don’t give a damn, but let me tell you I have been working in retail for six years and I always greet my customers with a smile and try to be as helpful as possible. I have customers daily who treat us shop assistants with little or no respect. People complain easily when a shop assistant is not smiling, yet they walk into the shop, are greeted with a smile and don’t even bother to say ‘hi’ a simple two letter word.

“I would just like to say to everyone out there, a shop assistant is human too and just trying to earn a decent living. Not everyone is the same. Please next time when you go shopping try and give the helpful shop assistants some respect too,” says the friendly shop assistant.

 Focus on Local

Are you pregnant, do you have a small baby or toddler or are you just a granny who loves to buy for her grandchild?

I’d heard about Kids Emporium and I’ve often driven past the entrance at 45 Sneeuberg Street, Glenvista. Last week I decided to pop in and take a look.

What a gorgeous baby boutique which sells baby nursery equipment, prams, exquisite baby and toddler clothing as well as maternity clothing, cuddly toys and educational toys.

What really impressed me was the amount of South African designer clothing, such as Hooligans, Eco Punk, Little Lumps, Baby Beautiful and Sweetie Peyes. The also stock international brands too, such as Mai and Rico, Billy and Bella, Kikki Monster and Stokke.

Looking for something special for your baby’s Christening, come and see their wide range of christening robes and outfits for boys too, beautiful!

The boutique has some adorable cuddly toys, such as Snuggle Bunny, rabbits and teddy bears and for toddlers, international educational toys from Melissa and Doug. What surprised me were the prices, really quite good for imported goods.

The shop also stocks Earth Friendly organic products and bedroom lamps and lights, as well as beautiful decor. Perfect for your little one’s nursery!

Wouldn’t you like to have your baby’s nursery look like this? Then visit Kids Emporium in Glenvista.

Nursery bedding for your baby’s cot is also stocked in the most delightful designs. An 11 piece linen set (below) costs R1 900 and includes: Bumper cover, Bumper Inner, Duvet Cover, Duvet Inner, Bolster Cushion Cover, Bolster Cushion Inner, Pillow case, Pillow Inner, Changing Mat, Changing Mat Inner and Cellular blanket.

If you are expecting, come and view their range of maternity underwear and clothing.

Owned by Stacey Nassif and managed by Ashleigh Cordeiro, a visit to Kids Emporium is a must. Phone 011 432 6826 for more information.

Bouquet of the Week

Lynda Kench said, “We recently had our Toyota Yaris serviced at Freeway Toyota (Xavier Road Ext) and we were given a substantial discount for being pensioners. I believe this is worthy of a bouquet in today’s economic climate and it would be nice to see other businesses doing the same and helping pensioners. Thanks to our service consultant Siddiqah.”

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop.
