The computers will be used as entry level for learners who never used a computer before.

Ormonde Primary School welcomed donations of five computers and school bags from Pakistan Muslim League SA on April 10.

Deputy principal, Elizabeth Dikvel said there are 40 learners who receive sandwiches from their Hunger Bust nutrition programme. She said they will benefit from this donation and that the computers will be used as an entry level for learners.

“Thank you to everyone who made this day possible, we are now receiving these computers. Now you have at least 30 minutes a day when you can come here and learn how to switch it on and work on it. Also thank you for the school bags as we have learners who are very needy. We appreciate that you have adopted us, it means going forward we are going to receive more support and sponsorship. This will help the learners in academia,” she said.

Ward 54 Clr Stuart Marais recommended the school for the league. “When Pakistan Muslim League SA asked which school needed this donation, I immediately thought of Ormonde Primary. We are grateful they donated and we hope there will be more in future. This is a golden opportunity to receive these computers and bags. Thank you to Pakistan Muslim League SA for the generosity,” he said.

Member of the Provincial Legislature, Sergio dos Santos thanked the school, the councillor and Anwar for the opportunity to be part of this programme.

“I serve under the education portfolio committee and deal with learners every single day with different schools. This school was established when I was the councillor in this area before Marais. I want a brick-and-mortar building for you in this school. I am going to drive this through the Gauteng Legislature and see if we can achieve this at some point, hopefully, sooner than later, because every child needs a safe and conducive learning environment,” he said.
