WATCH: Traffic disruption in Elandspark due to protest action

Residents have barricaded the roads with burning tyres and rocks, escalating their protest over illegal settlements.

Motorists are advised to avoid the intersection of Heidelberg and Klipriviersberg Roads and Randairport Road in Elandspark due to ongoing protest action.

Ward 57 Councillor Faeeza Chame has stated that residents are calling for the removal of informal settlements in the Lindokhule, Electron, and Springbok areas, which have been declared illegal by the City of Johannesburg.

“I have informed the relevant authorities, including officials from Human Settlements and the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC). I’m still awaiting feedback,” Chame said.
