Southern Suburbs Camera Club unveils August winning images

The winning images feature a collection of striking images that highlight the artistic talents within the community.

The accomplished and versatile senior photographer Rodney Cory and junior photographer Trevor Trump had the winning images at the June 2024 Southern Suburbs Camera Club.

Cory captured Tick Feeding Time at the overnight hide at Zimanga in January 2024 using a Canon R5 and a 70-200mm Canon lens at f4.5 1/400 sec ISO 200.

The lone buffalo came to drink water, bringing oxpeckers with him.

“I captured the image of an adult feeding a younger one a tick off the buffalo’s back,” said Cory.

Trump’s image, The Eye, was shot on the Chobe River while on a photographic excursion with the Pangolin Photo Boat. The crocodile was sunning, as they are known to do, on an island riverbank.

He captured the image using a Canon EOS 80D 1/800 sec f6.3 ISO 400 using a 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM lens.

While photographic images of nature and wildlife tend to do extremely well at club meetings, the club is known for having excellent photographers with a mixture of genre specialists including portraiture, visual art composites and sporting.

If you are interested in art and photography, spend an evening with the club.

Southern Suburbs Camera Club welcomes photography enthusiasts and amateurs at its monthly meetings on the second Thursday at Glenvista Country Club.
