Entities collaborate for a cleaner Johannesburg South

These clean-up campaigns seek to educate the community about a healthy living environment and its importance.

To promote a safe and clean south of Joburg, SOJO, The Glen Shopping Centre, City of Joburg (CoJ) departments, and ward councillors held a clean-up campaign on March 20 to clean The Glen precinct. Volunteers came on board to help with the clean-up, which was a great success.

On March 25, another clean-up collaboration between SOJO, the Expo Centre, FNB Stadium, CoJ departments, and ward councillor Matsobane Sekhu spruced up the Nasrec area in preparation for the Rand Show.

The clean-ups enhance the area’s aesthetic appeal and promote a sense of pride and community spirit among residents and visitors.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), City Parks, Pikitup, and SOJO’s cleaning team fixed potholes, cut grass, collected litter, maintained the road markings, repaired the traffic lights, and trimmed trees, all contributing to a welcoming environment.

“It is heartening to see various stakeholders come together to work towards a common goal of beautifying the city and ensuring events like the Rand Show can be enjoyed to the fullest by all attendees. This collaborative effort is a testament to the dedication and commitment of all involved in making Johannesburg a cleaner, greener, and more appealing place for everyone. As residents of the south of Joburg, we can all do our part in keeping our city clean. Together, we can make a difference by showcasing the best our vibrant city has to offer,” said SOJO CEO Nicky Vakaloudis.
