Avoid long queues, renew your license online

EMPD saves its residents from the headache that comes with renewing their license disc.

It is no secret that most people get police fines for not renewing their license disc.

People are always busy with work or taking children to school and do not have time to renew their license disc.

The long queues from the licensing department also make things hard for motorists, especially adult people with diseases.

Ekurhuleni residents can now renew their license disc via WhatsApp and save themselves from the stress of long queues in the licensing department.

This service comes at a cost of R250 for each vehicle registered. This fee covers electronic email delivery of your license disc, an additional R70 for those living in Gauteng who want their disc to be delivered to their homes, and R75 for nationwide delivery to a Pargo Pickup of your choice.

Three steps to renew your license on WhatsApp:

1. WhatsApp your vehicle registration number on 066 202 6685.

2. Get a quote and make payment via Pay Fast or SnapScan.

3. Specify your address and attach a copy or photo of your ID document and proof of residence, then sit back and wait for confirmation that your license disc has been renewed

Paying on behalf of someone else? Have these documents:

• The completed application of the licensing of motor vehicle form

• Acceptable identification for yourself and the registered owner

• A letter of consent signed by the registered owner.

Motorists are urged to make an application for the renewal of their licenses a month before the expiry date and expect to receive their license disc within 14 working days after payment has been made.
