RTMC’s service records 1.5 million vehicle owners

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) online vehicle license renewal portal is reported to showing phenomenal growth with its many users.

With close to 1.5 million vehicle owners now registered on its portal, the RTMC online vehicle licence renewals are growing fast and winning public confidence.

The service was introduced in February 2022 as a service delivery improvement initiative to save time for motorists and improve efficiency in licensing.

“Since then, 1 418 000 vehicle owners have registered and transacted on the portal. The portal offers convenience as it enables individuals to log in and renew their vehicle licences from the comfort of their home or office wherever they are. The vehicle licence is then delivered by courier to any address in the country within three to five working days,” stated RTMC.

To enjoy the benefit of the service, vehicle owners are advised to log on and register in five easy steps using their smartphones, laptops or computer.

Easy steps:

• First you go to online.natis.gov.za

• Click on register.

• Select whether you are registering as an individual or business.

• Enter your personal details, such as identity number, initials and surname.

• Enter vehicle number plate.

• Click next and enter contact details.

• Submit and finish registering.

“After registration, you will be entitled to receive email and SMS reminders when the renewals of your vehicle license become due. The email reminder will contain a renewal form which you can use to fill in and renew online without hassle,” it stated.

Residents of Gauteng, Gqeberha and Kariega can also use the portal to book learner or driver’s licence tests, renewal of driving licence cards and professional driving licence permits.

Older citizens above the age of 60 are exempted from booking. They are allowed to go to any driving license testing centre without prior booking and will be served.
