Retirement villages helps each other with a wheelchair

Gerald Smith feels relieved after receiving a wheelchair.

Pensioner Gerald Smith from Swinburne Retirement Village, South Hills, received a wheelchair with the help of Queenshaven Retirement Village on January 24.

Ward 57 Clr Faeeza Chame thanked Queenshaven for helping Smith. “He has been admitted in South Rand Hospital for a while. Unfortunately, his health has taken a toll on him. This causing him to spend more time in bed and he finds it very difficult to walk. The wheelchair will bring much comfort to him.

“This is what we do, anyone who needs help in the area can contact me on 081 329 7424 and we will try to help where we can,” she said.

Smith appreciated the great gesture from Queenshaven. “Thank you for your help and I appreciate everything you do for me. And I praise the good Lord that Faeeza and everybody else who helped me to get this wheelchair, otherwise I’ll be still lying in my bed with bedsores. Thank you to the community of South Hills,” he said.
