St Martin’s proudly celebrates their class of 2023 matric results

The determination of the learners produced a 100% pass rate.

To honour the hard work of the class of 2023, St Martin’s School hosted a matric results breakfast on January 19.

The room was filled with proud learners, parents and teachers as the headmaster, Warren Venter, congratulated the class of dedicated individuals who put in the time and effort to achieve the milestone of completing high school.

This year, St Martin’s attained a 100% pass rate with a bachelor’s pass of 100%.

Sabrina Lopes, who is one of the top achievers and obtained four distinctions, said: “It feels good being a top achiever. I put in a lot of hard work, spending time with my teachers when I was uncertain and working with past exam papers helped me. I can now pursue my dream of studying biomedicine.”

Sabrina further highlighted that she feels happy about completing school and she is excited to start varsity.

Faiza Essat is also a top achiever who obtained three distinctions. Faiza expressed: “I feel so proud of the rest of my grade. We did extremely well. I never expected it. It’s a big legacy to live up to being a top achiever at St Martin’s and I hope I made everyone proud. I devoted my time to paying attention in class and a lot of studying, which has helped me excel. I plan on studying accounting.”

Venter also shared his sentiments. “I am exceptionally proud of this class, the top achievers and the teachers as five of the subjects are above the national average for the IEB including maths and physical science.

“This class had a tough high school career because they started in 2019 and had to deal with Covid, adjusting to online learning and the school undergoing a restructuring and moving to a new campus. Their resilience is even more important than the results.

“Overall, we are extremely proud and I am confident that each of them is going to land on their feet and find every success in whatever it is they do.”
