Resthaven enjoys a wonderful Christmas party

The children and senior residents of Resthaven had a delightful Christmas party to end the year

Mall of the South (MOTS) in partnership with SOJO Business and Tourism hosted a Christmas party for Resthaven.

They chose the organisation to be this year’s beneficiary by hosting the elderly and children at 21 Jump Street in the mall on December 5.

MOTS marketing manager Itumeleng Khutsoane said, “We are excited to host the elderly and the children for a day of fun. We approached our business partners, mall tenants, external partners and service providers on site to do Santa boxes and contribute to ensure the day is a success for the residents.”

MOTS centre management team and other members who participated on the day, each picked one resident from Resthaven to sponsor with a gift. All the residents received a gift.

Sorbet sponsored pamper bags for the elderly ladies, 21 Jump Street sponsored the venue and free play for the children. The organisation also enjoyed a delicious lunch sponsored by Spur, Piatto, and Wimpy.

The senior manager of Spur, Slindile Mkhwanazi, emphasised how honoured they were as a brand to make a difference and put a smile on the faces of each child, senior and caretaker.

SOJO CEO Nicky Vakaloudis highlighted, “This initiative started last year, and we are honoured to be a part of it this year. SOJO together with MOTS thought of doing something special for the residents over three days, where we took them to Gold Reef City and Thabo Eco Hotel for a wonderful experience and all the treats could not fit into one day.

“The residents are close to our hearts and we are glad to see the joy on their faces and to be a part of the experience.”

Seniors were overjoyed with the gifts they received.

Resthaven’s CEO Neil Williams expressed his gratitude. “We are always humbled by the support and the contribution of our donors. We are grateful for MOTS, SOJO and all the partners who ensured the residents were well taken care of because we cannot excel without their help.

The occasion was a great success as Resthaven feels blessed to be rewarded and the sponsors humbled to give back to the community by using their services and resources to make a difference in the community.
