Safety and security initiative takes root in Robertsham

Community is invited to embrace this initiative to keep the community of Robertsham safe.

Robertsham residents have joined hands to create a united front for a safer and more secure neighbourhood.

In a show of unity, a new community group has emerged, determined to foster a safer and secure environment.

The secretary of the group, Ishtiyak Gaffoor, said the establishment of the Robertsham Streetwise Forum (RSF) marks an inspiring moment for Robertsham as community members from all walks of life rallied together to tackle ongoing issues.

“RSF comprises dedicated individuals who share a common vision. The newly formed RSF aims to address safety concerns by creating a cooperative network that extends its services to the entire community.

“Long-time residents, concerned parents, local business owners, and aspiring leaders have come together, recognising the importance of enhancing security that would ultimately uplift the quality of life for all in Robertsham.

“With a mission to foster a culture of safety and vigilance, the RSF has already outlined several areas of focus. Its primary objective is to promote the active engagement of residents through a range of safety and security measures designed to empower individuals to make informed decisions concerning their safety.

“As part of their comprehensive approach to community safety, the initiative aims to establish neighbourhood watch programmes in every street.

“To encourage and engage in public participation, the group organised regular meetings, ensuring a vibrant platform for residents to voice their concerns and share valuable insights for preventing and addressing potential security threats,” explained Gaffoor.

Recognising the invaluable partnership between residents and law enforcement, the RSF seeks to enhance collaboration with the local SAPS and security companies operating in Robertsham.

By fostering open lines of communication and mutual support, both sides can work hand in hand to build trust, effectively combat crime, and respond promptly to safety and security issues for Robertsham’s residents.

The initiative envisions using social media and online platforms, accessible to all community members. These platforms serve as a hub for safety resources, including tips on crime prevention, emergency contacts, and links to local authorities.

As this community-led effort continues to gain momentum, the RSF calls on all residents to contribute to the cause. Whether attending upcoming meetings, joining a neighbourhood watch programme, or remaining vigilant and looking out for one another, even the smallest actions can make a significant difference in building a safer Robertsham community.

“The RSF initiative embodies the true spirit of unity and resilience that defines our suburb. With our collective vigilance and commitment, we can ensure that every citizen feels secure, ultimately fostering a stronger and more tightly-knit community for generations to come,” he said.
