The dog was left to fend for himself by an unidentified green Toyota Yaris at Rosettenville.

The death of a defenceless dog depicts the shocking act of cruelty which has left the community reeling and questioning the depths of humanity’s conscience.

According to Liana Marx of JSPCA the dog, whose front legs were tied with wire and whose back legs were broken, with a rope tied tightly around his neck, was cruelly left to fend for himself by an unidentified individual driving a green Toyota Yaris.

Johannesburg SPCA discovered the dog abandoned on the side of Prairie Street, Rosettenville, on July 25.

“The Linmeyer Animal Group rushed to assist this defenceless creature. The dog was discovered still clinging to life. The sad reality is that nobody had reported this distressing incident, leaving the innocent creature to suffer for almost 24 hours before any help arrived. Despite the efforts to save him, the dog’s condition worsened, and tragically, he passed away in agony.

“The question lingers: What kind of person could commit such an awful act against an innocent being?

The poor dog, whose legs were tied together with wire.

“No animal deserves to be thrown away. We implore anyone facing difficulties in caring for their pets to seek help from animal welfare organisations. This is beyond disgusting and we hope whoever did this, can sleep at night knowing what they did,” said Marx.

The investigation into this tragic case of animal cruelty is ongoing, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information that might lead to the identification of the heartless perpetrator.

Those with information are urged to contact the authorities or JSPCA at 011 681 3600, as every piece of information can make a difference in seeking justice for this innocent life.
